Happiness can never be based on things staying the same. One of the few generalizations we can make is that everything changes! Couples can no more go back to what they were years ago than geography can go back to what it was. There are now highways where there use to be pastures. There are shopping malls where there used to be woods. Familiar places are no longer familiar
One of the first principles of being happy is to realize that we always have a choice. We can choose to focus on what we have lost, focus on what no longer is, or we can focus on what we have, on what makes us happy.
While there my be chemical imbalances that a doctor can address, in general, happiness if first a choice before it is a reality. In short, we can choose to be happy by choosing to focus on the good rather than the bad, to focus on joy rather than on loss, to focus on people who are with us, rather than just on those who are who are not.
.....Fr. Joe Breighner
St. Augustine wrote "There are very few people who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves to be formed by his grace. A thick and shapeless tree trunk would never believe that it could become a statue, admired as a miracle of sculpture and would never consent to submit itself to the chisel of the sculpture who sees by his genius what he can make of it."
What could you be? Have you ever asked God "what is your plan for me "? Has God laid a plan that you have turned away from if so, why? Is it that in our core that we do not really trust God? Is it that we believe that if we gave in with abandon that He would take away freedom? That He would put up walls and barriers that we could not cross?
God Has so much more planed for you than you can begin to grasp. So like a child new from it's mothers womb stretch out your hand and grasp His hand...He will never let you go.
